AAMA Promotes Walker to President and CEO

Rich Walker has been promoted to president and chief executive officer (CEO) of the American Architectural Manufacturers' Association (AAMA) based in Schaumburg, Ill. The organization says he will direct and oversee all of its objectives and program operations in a realignment that was approved during its national fall meeting by the board of directors as recommended by both the board executive compensation and strategic planning committees. Chairperson of the board John Brunett says Walker's promotion is part of an effort by the strategic planning committee to advance AAMA's position as a leader in the fenestration industry.

"Rich's 20 years of industry experience and 10 years with AAMA are proof of his tenacity and dedication to the industry. He has executed at a level that gives the AAMA Board confidence in promoting him to this position, which is better suited to his scope of responsibilities and more clearly represents the activities of the organization," said Brunett.

Walker has served as AAMA's executive vice president, technical director and Southeast region director. The organization says, while serving as executive vice president, he spurred AAMA's membership to its current level of more than 400 members; ensured fiscal stability; and promoted quality door, window, curtain wall, storefront and skylight products. It also says that, as technical director, he represented member interests in all national, state and county codes, and increased participation in its product and profile certification program. As the organization's Southeast region director, it says he ensured member interests were addressed in regulations promulgated in the Southeast U.S. and particularly the states of Florida, North Carolina and Texas and the Florida counties of Dade, Broward and Palm Beach.

Walker graduated from Lafayette College with a bachelor of science degree in chemical engineering and earned an MBA in finance from the University of Connecticut.
