AMD Votes to Amend Bylaws
In March 2007, the Association of Millwork Distributors’ (AMD) board of directors, Executive Committee, Strategic Planning Committee and delegated guests met in Denver to update the AMD Strategic Plan. It was the consensus of the strategic planning participants to redefine distribution to reflect today’s market and continue to grow the membership. Therefore, one of the key elements of the plan was to restructure the AMD bylaws.
Following the AMD Strategic Planning Meeting, the AMD board of directors initiated an ad hoc bylaw committee, whose mission was to restructure the AMD bylaws to: update the bylaws to reflect current policy; re-clarify the qualifications of distributor membership; and include associate members in the leadership and governance of AMD.
The proposed bylaw changes were forwarded to the AMD board of directors, who unanimously supported the recommended changes. The proposed changes were voted upon at the Annual Distributor Business Meeting, Sunday, November 4, 2007, at the AMD Annual Convention in Denver. AMD members voted 53 to 3 in favor of amending the bylaws.
“It is our intent for AMD to continue being the leading advocate for the millwork distribution industry,” says executive director Rosalie Leone. “In order for us to be successful, the membership of AMD must reflect how millwork is distributed today and we must be inclusive of those channels.”
