BIA Seeking Contest Entries The Brick Industry Association (BIA) based in Washington, D.C., is accepting applications for two contests that award excellence in environmental stewardship and employee health and safety. BIA says these contests illustrate the brick industry's commitment to safeguarding the environment, as well as the safety and health of brick industry workers, and are open to all masonry industry companies. Contests include Employee Health and Safety and Environmental Stewardship. Each includes three categories: six largest manufacturers, medium and small manufacturers, and distributors. BIA says winning companies will receive industry recognition as awards are presented at the Brick Show Banquet at its Brick Show on Saturday, March 31, 2007, at the Gaylord Palms Resort and Convention Center, in Orlando, Fla., and are expected to receive recognition from various trade publications as well as local newspapers that cover the competition. Eligible entries will be those concerning projects or programs that were implemented after December 1, 2004, and will be accepted until Friday, December 15, 2006, 5 p.m. EST. Entry is free for all BIA members in good standing and non-member entries are $150 each. The entry fee must be paid in full prior to application deadline and multiple entries are allowed. Each entry will be judged independently. For contest questions please contact Joseph Casper, BIA's vice president of environment, health and safety at 703/674-1545 or jcasper@bia.org, or Colleen Canovas, assistant, environment, health and safety, at 703/674-1546 or ccanovas@bia.org. |
