Bilco Consolidates
The Bilco Co. will relocate its current metal basement door manufacturing operation
from West Haven, Conn., to its recently constructed facility in Zanesville, Ohio,
where the company currently manufactures its line of high-density polyethylene
basement doors and emergency egress window wells. The consolidation of the company's
metal and non-metal manufacturing operations will occur during the first quarter
of 2008.
Bilco expects this move to eventually add between 25 and 30 new employees to
its Zanesville workforce. The total number of additional employees will include
production, administration and supervisory level positions.
"We are excited about our growth strategy in Zanesville as it will enhance
both customer service as well as product delivery," says Robert J. Lyons
Jr, Bilco's president and chief executive officer. "From a more centralized
location in our residential products market, Bilco will be able to provide mixed
shipments of metal and plastic products to our customers with improved freight
economies."
According to Lyons, the company's headquarters, commercial product sales organization
and other support functions will remain at its present location in West Haven.
