CertainTeed Reaches Safety Milestone

Employees at CertainTeed Corp.'s Jackson, Mich., vinyl siding and composite decking manufacturing facility have reached a safety milestone by working two million hours without a lost-time accident, according to a company news release. A lost-time accident is considered to be any workplace injury that prevents a worker from coming to work for his/her next scheduled shift.

"This is a tremendous accomplishment for us," said Rick Holt, plant manager. "The employees' commitment to safety is the number one reason we have reached this safety milestone."

The milestone comes on the heels of the plant's recognition by its parent company, Saint-Gobain Corp., and its annual North American Health and Safety Awards. The Jackson plant received top honors in the awards in the large plant category.
