CMI Adds Facility in Alabama

CMI, a Chicago-based manufacturer and marketer of CraftMaster Door Designs, has opened a new 224,000-square-foot plant in Ozark, Ala., and begun manufacturing and shipping finished interior door products. The facility is part of CMI's acquisition of C&S Door, which was finalized in July 2005.

"The Ozark facility is an ideal location to serve the southeastern United States," explained Bob Merrill, CMI president and chief executive officer. "As a division of CMI, C&S Door is a quality-focused manufacturer that has helped us to vertically integrate our business. This new facility is a strategic component that is important to the long-term growth of our interior door products business."

To date, CMI has invested more than $10 million in the Ozark area through capital improvements. More than 40 employees are currently working in the plant, with plans to have more than 100 once the plant is at full capacity.

Through the CMI manufacturing network, the company produces and distributes a broad range of finished door products, including raised-panel interior doors and wood doors, throughout the U.S. CraftMaster wood doors are available in various wood species and styles, including passage, bifold, French, louver, café, flush and more.
