CMI, the Chicago-based manufacturer and marketer of CraftMaster interior doors, MiraTEC treated exterior composite trim and Extira treated exterior panels, has promoted Steve Fancher to managing director of CMI – Europe and Asia and appointed him to the company’s lead management team.

In his new role, Fancher is responsible for all export activities of CraftMaster brand products in Asia and Europe. He also will oversee all commercial aspects of CMI’s recent equity investment in Jilin Fudun Timber Co. Ltd., one of the largest and most respected timber and wood products companies in China.

As an 11-year veteran of CMI, Fancher has served as sales manager, Japan and Korea; export manager, Europe; and sales manager, Masonite Formtec Korea. He will report directly to CMI president and chief executive director Bob Merrill.

“Steve is a seasoned executive who has proven to be an excellent strategic leader for our international business. In particular, he has been instrumental in growing our CraftMaster interior door export business in Europe and Asia,” Merrill says. “In an increasingly competitive and diversified global marketplace, Steve’s experience is a significant asset that will help us further grow our interior door business and also pursue new opportunities through our relationship with Fudun.”

Fancher is a graduate of the University of Cincinnati with a bachelor’s degree in economics and he has completed additional training in sales management, financial management and leadership.
