Ferche Millwork Announces 50 Years in Busines

Ferche Millwork in Rice, Minn., is celebrating its 50th year in business. Started in August, 1958 by Bob Ferche, the company has grown from a local/regional supplier of mouldings and door jambs to a worldwide supplier of solid and veneered hardwood moulding products. The company says it remains at the forefront of new methods in manufacturing, product development and marketing which it says provides consumers with higher quality products and insight into the variety, use and application of moulding products in their homes.

Gerald Grider, Ferche’s president, says even now, in the midst of a housing industry downturn, the company is finding success by expanding its outreach into new markets. He further attributes his company’s success to the flexible and creative way it adapts to market conditions and regional requirements and the ability to offer products to consumers that will simplify the selection process. An example includes the company’s “Decorator Series” of mouldings. To encourage and simplify the sale of an upgraded moulding package, Ferche assembled moulding “families” in which the casing, base, chairrail and crown matched one another. The company then made its moulding sets available with short lead times and in small quantities, to satisfy the needs of the consumer on a house-by-house basis.

Grider says Ferche will continue implementing new ways of marketing existing products and developing new products and ideas to keep its moulding sales fresh and exciting.
