ICC Named Sims COO The International Code Council, a membership association dedicated to building safety and fire prevention, recently named Dominic Sims as its chief operating officer (COO). The association says Sims will be responsible for its day-to-day operating activities, financial performance, short- and long-term planning and strategic business activities. Sims previously served as deputy COO and was promoted by the new chief executive officer (CEO) Rick Weiland. Weiland said, "I am very enthusiastic to have Dominic in this important role as we work to achieve ICC's mission. He has a proven track record in building safety and fire prevention, and his professional career has been marked by a dedication to public safety and a record of organizational success." While serving as CEO of the Southern Building Code Congress International (SBCCI), an International Code Council legacy organization, Sims helped lead consolidation of the three model code organizations. He holds several professional certifications with the Code Council and the states of Florida and Ohio. Prior to joining the International Code Council and SBCCI, he was executive director of the Palm Beach County, Fla., planning, zoning and building department. He has served as vice chairperson of the Florida Governor's Building Code Study Commission, on numerous committees and was vice mayor of Jupiter, Fla. He holds a bachelor's degree in organizational management from Palm Beach Atlantic University. | |
