Stiles Machinery Opens New Resource Center

Stiles Machinery Inc. says nearly 800 customers visited its facility during a three-day open house to celebrate the opening of the company’s new resource center.

The Grand Rapids, Michigan-based distributor of woodworking equipment says it expected to draw more than 500 customers from throughout the Great Lakes region to its biennial open house, Nov. 7-9, but it reached and quickly surpassed that number by mid-afternoon on the second day.

Stiles says the main highlight was the unveiling of its new $1 million call center. The new 5,000 square-foot facility is designed to provide round-the-clock support to its customers throughout North America. It combines spare parts ordering and distribution with customer service and technical support, a concept the company says allows for a seamless customer response.

“Stiles firmly believes that continuous improvement and technically advanced solutions are essential to proving the exceptional level of service our customers have come to expect. And so, we continue to invest in developing the industry’s most comprehensive support system,” says company’s president, Peter Kleinschmidt.

Kleinschmidt says last year Stiles achieved its best financial results since 2000 and it’s projecting another healthy increase this year. He credits an across-the-board upswing in demand from all the industries the company services.

The Stiles Expo featured live demonstrations on a wide range of woodworking equipment, including rough mill line, finishing equipment, sliding table saws and robotic assembly. The company also showcased its proprietary software during the three-day event.

“We recognize what our customers need to compete successfully in today’s global marketplace,” Kleinschmidt says. “Knowledge-sharing and hands-on demonstrations are key parts of this process.”
