WMMPA BOD Votes for Association Name Change
The Wood Moulding and Millwork Producers’ Association’s board of directors voted at its recent association business meeting held in Lake Louise, Alberta, to pursue changing the name of the association to something that better reflects the diverse product lines represented within the organization. Kellie Schroeder, executive vice president of the association, says the feedback she got from the first WMMPA newsletter article on this topic reflected the majority of members were in favor of a name change. However, there were a few well-written arguments in favor of retaining the word wood within the association’s title.
With the board’s decision to move toward a new name for the association’s membership, the WMMPA staff will spend the next two months soliciting feedback, suggested names for the association and official votes from each member company. Members will be receiving feedback forms and official voting materials.
Some of the suggested names (with the acronyms the staff has received to date) are:
- Moulding and Millwork Manufacturers Association (MMMA)
- Moulding & Millwork Manufacturers (MMM)
- Association of Moulding & Millwork Producers (AMMP)
- Moulding & Millwork Producers Association (MMPA)
- Millwork Products Association (MPA)
- Millwork Manufacturers Association (MMA)
- Moulding & Millwork Association (MMA)
“Changing our name to reflect our entire membership will be a long process, and we want to hear from each member,” Schroeder says. Please contact Kellie Schroeder at kelli@wmmpa.com or give her a call at 530/661-9591 to express your opinion on this item or to suggest another name be added to the consideration list.
